Lego Albalat – workshop

2025
Workshop
Spanish / French

This creative workshop was designed to help young audiences engage with the graffiti of the medieval Islamic archaeological site of Albalat in a playful and accessible way. Each participant receives a blank leporello, conceived as an object for discovery and experimentation.
On the front, the fold-out offers an immersion into the site’s architecture through the representation of a house and its doors, while the back is intentionally left blank to host a personal creation. The workshop invites children to reconstruct the graffiti motifs using LEGO modules, which are then printed onto the leporello.
The choice of LEGO is based on its universal and reassuring nature, as well as its ability to be built, dismantled, and recomposed, echoing archaeological practice. The project explores notions of fragmentation and reconstruction of clues, while offering a double reading between what is hidden and what is revealed. It is primarily aimed at children, providing a familiar medium that helps make complex heritage more understandable.
