This thesis examines how archaeology is perceived and narrated by the general public. Often reduced to a discipline of excavation or a collection of aesthetic objects, archaeology is in fact a science of interpretation, storytelling, and meaning-making. Through the study of ruins, myths, and mediation tools, this work explores the role of graphic design in presenting archaeology.
How can complex scientific data be made visible without being oversimplified? How can scientific rigor and visual emotion be brought into dialogue?
Research question developed through this thesis: As a graphic designer, how can I create mediation tools that transform the image of archaeology, moving it from myth to a living, readable, and contemporary science?
